TOWN OF WARNER – PULLS THE PIN

CLARK COUNTY

At a special town meeting, the citizens of the town of Warner showed up to apply the “voice of the people.”  The agenda for the evening included: The Towns future involvement in Smart Growth / Comprehensive Planning, and the issue of Village Powers.

First on the chopping block was Village Powers. In a vote of 85 to 50 the citizens took village powers away from their town board. Some of the group assembled left the meeting after the vote was counted.

Second in their sites was the issue of participating in the counties comprehensive planning process under the state grant funding program. The ballots were counted and the vote was 87 to 26 to pull out of the planning process.

With the town or Warner rallying to the cause to secure “the voice of the people,” Clark county now has lost at least 19 of the towns of the grant process.

I would like to personally commend the people of the town of Warner, for standing up for their rights, coming together as citizens who share common concerns, and having the strength and courage to pull village powers and rendered the Smart Growth process dead.

I would hope other towns, in other counties, would follow your leadership and secure their property rights so they and their children will have future protections on what they can do with the property they have toiled for and paid the taxes.

Congratulations!
