The Following Resolution was passed by an overwhelming vote at the Republican Party Convention held in Stevens Point on May 9, 2003. Approximately 700 people were in attendance.
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Republican Party of Wisconsin, in convention assembled calls upon our state and federal elected officials to insure that any future agriculture programs strictly enforce current antitrust laws to keep free and open markets within the United States, in order to maintain agriculture service, production and agriculture marketing as three separate and distinct industries, thereby allowing the smaller producers to be part of free market competition.

2003-22 Repeal of Smart Growth Resolution

WHEREAS, <Smart Growth> legislation contained in Section 66.1001,Wisconsin Statutes, was enacted as 1999 Wisconsin Act 9 and was signed into law by former Governor Tommy Thompson as part of the 1999-2000 biennial budget, and

WHEREAS, <this land use act was never properly addressed by the Wisconsin State Legislature, and

WHEREAS, the consequences of this act may result in loss of property rights, increased government regulation and economic hardships:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Republican Party of Wisconsin, in convention assembled that we express our opposition to this <Smart Growth> law and that the Wisconsin Legislature be and hereby is urged to repeal it.
